Morgan Wallace Obituary

Morgan Lee Wallace, of Hartly, passed away suddenly while working Monday, May 22, 2017, in Talbot County, Md. He was 36.
He was born March 3, 1981, in Denver, Colo. He attended Rogue River High School in Rogue River, Ore., and went on to study graphic design at The Art Institute of Washington in Arlington, Va.

Mr. Wallace was a talented tattoo artist and owned Zombiefish Custom Tattoos and Curiosities in Chestertown, Md. He also was a career fisherman, specializing in oystering, crabbing and conking. He conked for Jason Wilson on the Island Girl out of Tilghman, Md., oystered on the skipjack Rebecca T. Ruark for Wade Murphy and crabbed for BG Thompson in Delaware. His most recent work was doing construction.

He was proud of his family, which includes his fiancé Meredith Thomas and their children: son Kaiden Phoenix Lee Wallace, 7, and daughter Persephone Lee Wallace, 3, all of Hartly. Spending time with his kids was important to him, teaching them about nature, fishing, cooking and growing plants. The happiest memories were beach days and camping as a family.

Mr. Wallace touched a large number of lives on both coasts, and will be remembered for his friendship, positive attitude and passion for the things he enjoyed. He lived a good life doing things he loved with people he loved. "Work like a captain, play like a pirate," was a favorite quote of his.

In addition to his fiancé and children, he is survived by his mother, Kelly Lee Belk of Baltimore; father, Don Wallace of Rogue River; maternal grandmother, Jacquelyn Lee Criss of Baltimore; paternal grandmother Martha Kramer of Indiana; sister and brother-in-law, Whitney and David Langfield; his aunts and uncles, Priscilla Wallace of Florida, John Elliot of Indiana and Melissa Giddens of Indiana; cousins, KC Harding and Zachariah Learned; nieces Madison Pettigrew and Willow Learned; nephews Xander Langfield and Kanon Langfield; and his in-laws to be, Ms. Thomas' parents: Valorie and Allan Thomas, her sisters: Elizabeth Krumrine and Morgan Thomas, and brother: Forrest Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his aunt, Kimberlyn Lee Learned.

Services will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Harrison's Chesapeake House, Tilghman, Md. A benefit sponsored by the Baltimore Blues Society for the Morgan Wallace Memorial Fund will be 11 a.m. to sundown Sunday, July 30, at the Rosedale American Legion Post 180, Rosedale, Md.

A memorial service is being planned for late summer in Oregon. Details will be announced.
