John Gredlein Obituary

On January 15, 2017, Jack passed away at his home as a result of a pulmonary embolism. He was born on July 4, 1945 and was the son of the late John G. Gredlein Sr. and Viola (nee Fersterman).
After graduating from Dundalk High School in 1963, he enlisted in the Marines where he spent time at both Parris Island, SC, and Camp Lejuene, NC. He then worked in the electrical department of Bethlehem Steel before completing his Electrical Apprenticeship in 1975 and became a lifelong member of Local 24, IBEW. He also worked in San Jose, CA, for many years, and was a member of IBEW Local 332.
He joined the Eastern Motorcycle Club and participated in many hill climbing and scrambling races during the late 60's and early 70's. He loved horses, had a couple of his own, and enjoyed riding them as well as betting on them. He's had his picture taken many times in the Winner's Circle of Racetracks from Maryland to California. After retiring, he also enjoyed bowling at Patterson and Parkville Lanes, and played softball for many years with the over 60 men's league.
He is survived by his sister, Janice Perez, and her late husband Abraham, of Odenton; his niece, Jaime Thiel, and her husband, Brandon, and daughter, Braelyn, of Crownsville; and many other loving family members and friends.
The family will receive guests at The First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Gray Manor, 212 Oakwood Road, Dundalk, MD, on Friday, February 17 at 2 p.m.
