Humphrey was a wonderful colleague of mine for about twenty year since I joined the physics faculty at Brown in 2003. In fact, he chaired a faculty search in 2002, which led to my being hired! It was also remarkable to me upon reflection that we had several more years of happy and frequent interaction even after his "official" retirement. Having our offices with only one door in between, we talked and discussed physics almost daily. I had benefitted tremendously from his wisdom and his camaraderie as a highly accomplished senior colleague. I even missed him enough during the covid years that I called and spoke with him several times over the phone. Humphrey shall be missed by many with loving memories for years to come.
