Anthony Cottrell Obituary

Anthony James-Devante Cottrell June 20, 1993 - June 25, 2009 Resident of Concord Anthony was taken to be with the Lord too soon, just after celebrating his sixteenth birthday. The lymphoma and leukemia that invaded his body last year could not be stopped, despite his courageous fight and determination. He is survived by his mother and father Tiffany and Mike, brother Christopher, grandmother DeDe, great grandparents Lynn and Bill, and great-great grandmother Myrtle Backus. Throughout his young life, he was always high spirited and loved getting attention. A real boy, there was little that he enjoyed more than going very fast on his skateboard, bicycle, ATV, or dirtbike. Even as a toddler, Anthony showed natural abilities with tools of all kinds and his mechanical talents grew as the years progressed. The family gives special thanks to the teams of doctors and nurses at Children's Hospital and UCSF Hospital for their dedicated efforts and personal care they gave Anthony in his months of need. When medicine and science became ineffective, the hospice at George Mark Children's Home welcomed him to a tender and loving resting place, and the family is deeply indebted to everyone there. The affection and support of all Anthony's friends was extremely helpful throughout his illness, and particularly fond appreciation is given to Jennifer, Darryl, and all the Sabo family. Interment will be at 11 AM on July 7, 2009 at the Rolling Hills Memorial Park in El Sobrante. There will be a Celebration of Life following, for family and friends.

Anthony I know your still here with me because I realized some stuff I was blaming on somebody else,I think a good chunk of that was you just leaving me a gentle reminder that your still here with and showing me proof by moving that thing I know that I left right here sumwhere nearby
And I can´t find it for weeks then low and behold it´s right over there but I swore that I looked there because I must´ve right
Or was it there all along oh idk but I think he´s just messing with me because he wants me to remember that even though I cannot see him here in front of me that he is always here with me in spirit and the proof of that is when he moves my stuff to hide it from me on purpose
Ya know what son I love you more than you´ll ever know and miss you more than words can say
A piece of me went with you when you passed and life is just been stuck feeling like a chunk was missing ever since you left. Your brother and I have tried and struggled to get the way it all was before you left but it doesn´t matter what we do how we try and match the feelings it is just a hole or hollow area an
Incomplete feeling or like a chunk was broken off and we can´t locate the chunk
I don´t know how better to explain it. And time well it doesn´t get any easier and time doesn´t make it any easier or make it feel any better either,
The wounds are not as raw and fresh and so the pain has changed some but not lessened any just changed shape it doesn´t get easier to deal with maybe it becomes easier to talk about or to express the feelings but not easier to deal with
I think it just dulled the pain some but didn´t take the hurt away or decrease the amount of pain it just changes shape I think
Please continue to remind me that your around always
I love that
And I´ll be seeing you around sumtime
We all miss you beyond measure and look forward to seeing you again
Love you Ant love your mom Tiffany Rest In Paradise

Hey Anthony,

I know that God welcomed you home as soon as you passed. I know you are with your nana right now and you are smiling and laughing with her. I think about you both often and miss you.

Your uncle tells a story about when you were just a little guy. He woke up to you climbing the shelves in his room, I think you were trying to get to a helmet or something like that. You always did know how to wake us up. Adventurous and never a dull moment you were. Even as young as you were. I thought of you today and this time I went a little further in to the guest book and got to see the photo of you that you grandma De showed me a while back. I love it, you on the trampoline with your blond blond hair standing straight up. You look like a little dandelion in that photo. Seeing your face in all the photos that your great grandpa posted of you was so nice. I miss you. We all do! You beautiful boy.

You will never be out of our hearts and minds. See you some day!
Aunt Lara

p.s. sorry for missing so many days of you growing up.

Our dear Anthony,

We were with you when you first arrived on earth, and hopes for your wonderful life ahead were in our hearts and minds. You were a great looking little boy, and through the years you grew into a good looking tall young man. All the world could have been yours.
Tears and prayers could not save your life, and we will savor only memories of your smiles and happiness from the sixteen short years you were with us. If the Lord had spared you we know you would have become successful and a fine man, but that was not to be. We mortals cannot understand why He took you to be with Him, but we do know you now have eternal peace and we will all be together again someday.
Please...if you felt we were too hard on you during your difficult growing-up time, forgive us.
The Lord God has forgiven you of everything, and we have too.
Our love for you will last forever, and you will never be forgotten in our prayers.

Anthony, I'll always remember that fearless little boy that climbed all the way up my shelves, just so you could wear my motorcycle helmet. Being so quiet so you wouldn't wake me up. I really miss you,as we all do,but I know I'll see you later. Love you forever, Uncle Steve
