Doris Herspring Obituary

Doris Ford Herspring Resident of Walnut Creek Doris Ford Herspring, 93, of Walnut Creek passed away March 4, 2007 with family at her side. Dorie was born Doris Aileen Ross on January 11, 1914 in Oakland, California. She attended school in Oakland and graduated from Castlemont High School. She moved to Walnut Creek in 1954, and except for a short time when she worked at Brown's Hobby Shop, she was a full-time homemaker. She was married to Omar Ford. He preceded her in death in 1968. She later married Frank Herspring, who also preceded her in death in 1995. Two sons, David Herspring of Pioneer, CA, and Dale Herspring and his wife, Maureen of Manhattan, KS, and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Ford Hove, survive Dorie. Nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive her. Her sons, Larry Ford (2005) and Gary Ford (1988) preceded her in death. Dorie will best be remembered for the love she spread everywhere she went. She was a wonderful person who could be tenacious and tender at the same time. Dorie never knew a stranger, only friends she had not met. She would make a room brighter with her presence. Dorie made everyone around her instantly comfortable and at ease. Her family was her pride and joy. Her fantastic smile and her amazing laugh will be deeply missed. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walnut Creek for many years. Friends and family take comfort in knowing that she is at home with the Lord. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday March 10, 2007 in the Inspiration Chapel at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette. Burial will follow. There will be a reception at the First Baptist Church, 1336 Buena Vista Ave., Walnut Creek, CA 94596, immediately following interment. We are forever grateful for Dorie selling us her beautiful home back in 1996. We knew the instant that we walked through the front door that we wanted to make a home here because it had such a warm feel to it. Dorie would come and visit us from time to time and we would show her the changes that were made to the house. She would comment about how beautiful they changes were. She would also comment that she could tell that there was a lot of love in this home. My daughters Morgan and Madison always looked forward to seeing her when she dropped by, either by herself or with family. We treasured those visits and were blessed for having known her.
