89 years, passed away August 7, 2011. A native of Massachusetts and Alameda, CA resident for nearly 60 years. Loving wife of Amerigo Albarello for 31 years, who preceded her in death, March 11, 2001. Devoted mother and grandmother, foster parent to 150 children, and loving companion to many cats. Daughter, Melissa and son-in-law Scott Dallas; children Serafina Medina, Desmond Blande, Jesse Medina and Nadia Dallas.
Active in Catholic Daughters of America, Young Ladies Institute and Italian Catholic Federation, devoted supporter of St. Barnabas church and school as well as many other children's charities. Worked at Alameda Naval Station for many years in a civilian capacity. Long-time doll enthusiast and owner of Ellie's Doll House.
Eleanor was preceded in death by brothers Alfred and Robert Perkins and sister Marion Hunkins, and survived by brother Frank Perkins and sisters Virginia Perkins and Barbara Corbin, and the families of nephews Gary Perkins, John Perkins, Duggan Perkins, Richard Perkins, Tim Perkins, Mike Perkins, James Corbin, Robert Hunkins, Dave Hunkins, Eldon Grassi, Richard Hunkins and nieces Donna Negrette, Margaret Lynch, Mary Jo Taylor, Alicia Corbin, Rosemary Gsell, Bonnie Jean Melchor, Gail Barrett, Jill Albarello, Sherri Goldstein and Michelle Emerson. Ellie was a bright light whose kindness, unwavering generosity, lively sense of humor and tenacious spirit shone over the lives of so many. She will be sorely missed.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday after 4:00pm and are invited to attend the Vigil Service, also on Tuesday, at 7:00pm at Greer Family Mortuary, 2694 Blanding Ave., Alameda. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:30am at St. Barnabas Church, 1427 6th St., Alameda, followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward. Donations may be made in Eleanor's name to Oakland SPCA.
