Dear Cadet Family,

Words cannot express the sorrow we felt when we heard the news about Elena. Taylor and I always enjoyed talking with Elena at junior tennis tournaments. Taylor liked playing next to her and cheering her on as if they were teammates. I remember one tournament we were watching Elena play as Taylor waited for her own match to go on and she said to me "A lot of girls look pretty once they put make-up on, but Elena just looks pretty all the time." I pray daily for strength and comfort for your family as you go through this difficult time. Elena was such a sweet person and Taylor and I are thankful to have known her.

Vicky,
I don't expect you to remember me, but I was a client of yours at Hair It Is over 25 years ago. I found out about your tragic loss through a tennis connection. My heart goes out to you and your family. Your daughter sounds like she had your vibrant personality. May you find some comfort in your memories and in the fact that people you least expect are keeping you in their prayers.

Although we do not know you well, our daughters shared in the junior tennis programs which helped lead them to the next level. Elena was a poised and gifted athlete and this tragic loss has touched all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this most difficult time.

To the Cadet family. We never had the honor or pleasure of knowing your gifted and beautiful girl. We've seen the wonderful video of her singing on YouTube. It was only through the Franks, whom we are good friends with, that we learned of this tragic accident. Our hearts immediately sank when we heard the news. Such tragedies of losing a child are incomprehensible to most. Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss, and may God bring you the strength to endure the days ahead.

To the Cadet Family
I first wanted to say thank you for allowing and encouraging Elena to join the Highlander family. While she was here, she inspired all of us to do our best and brought an increased level of competition that we all felt. She will be greatly missed. As one of her academic counselors I was so impressed with how excited she was about school and how excited she was for her opportunity to play for UCR and graduate from here. You raised a wonderful, respectful, funny and caring young lady and I will be forever grateful that she was a part of my life. While I grieve for Elena, I celebrate my time with her.

Dear Vicky, Steve and Family,

Words cannot even begin to express how deeply saddened we are about the loss of Elena. She was truly a wonderful, loving person who had a positive influence on everyone she associated with. When Blair found out last Saturday evening and called me, she was utterly torn apart. The girls had been keeping in touch weekly since heading off to college and had been reporting to each other on life's new excitements and challenges. I know that Elena was very happy with her life to the very end. Now she will continue as one of God's angels. We cannot attend Elena's memorial today, but please know we will miss her dearly, and our thoughts and prayers will be with you always.

Love always,

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Elena's tragic accident. My daughter played several tournaments against her in singles and doubles and was on the same Zonal's team that went to Utah. She always spoke very highly of her and I always enjoyed watching her play. She was a beautiful girl and a great player. Our condolences go out to the entire family and our thoughts and prayers are with you.
