Gretchen Sykes Kauder Gretchen Sykes Kauder died Jan 13, 2005 in Walnut Creek, CA. Born in Worcester, MA, she lived in Pleasanton from 1959 to 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Amy Maynard, her sister, Maxine McIntosh, and her first husband of 52 years, Ernest L. Sykes. She is survived by her husband, Alois Kauder and six children: Evelyn M. King of Whitethorn, CA, Beverly A. Applebee of Livermore, Edward L Sykes of Fremont, Chrys Goodell of Oakland, Barbara Kauder Holmes of San Leandro, and Margaret Kauder of Tucson, AZ. She leaves 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren plus numerous unofficially adopted extended family members. A Christian Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2100 Tice Valley Blvd. in Walnut Creek on Saturday, January 22, at 1:00 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
