Joyce Andrade Obituary

Joyce Andrade passed away at home from natural causes in Castro Valley, CA, just fifteen days shy of her 92nd birthday. She was born in Racine, Wisconsin and moved to California when she was four years old. Joyce worked at Carnation Ice Cream and the Safeway Spice Plant, but she mostly spent her time raising her 5 children. Joyce was married for 65 years to her high school sweetheart, Al Andrade, who passed in 2015. When retired, Joyce and her husband, Al, bought a ranch in Stonyford, CA. They enjoyed the ranch life, raised Hereford cattle for about 10 years, and various other animals. Joyce enjoyed cruises with her husband and going to the casino. She is survived by her children, Diane McDonald and husband David Huettig, Denise Andrade, Craig Andrade and wife, Rhonda, and Glen Andrade and wife, Charlene. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Al, her son, Chris, granddaughter Lindsay McDonald, her parents, John and Harriet Lauer, her brother Richard Lauer and sister, Jean Acedo, and in-laws, Al and Lydia Andrade. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Sepulchre, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward, CA with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Joyce has requested that a tax deductible donation be made in memory of her granddaughter, Lindsay, to the Lindsay McDonald Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 20788, Castro Valley, CA 94546, or to the ASPCA.
