Resident of Moraga
Malcolm Anthony King, 85, passed away on October 24, 2021 of natural causes. He was born August 25, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Los Angeles, California. In 1958, he graduated from the University of Santa Clara. He earned his law degree from the University of San Francisco in 1961, and a LLM degree from Georgetown University in 1964. He married Marilyn Patricia Roland in 1962 in Palo Alto, California. They moved to Arlington, Virginia, where Malcolm served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps from 1962-1964. They eventually settled in Moraga, California in 1972, where they have lived for the past 49 years.
Malcolm worked in private practice from 1964-1968. From 1968-1979 he worked as a corporate attorney for United Airlines (Chicago) and later Kaiser Aetna (Oakland). In 1979 he returned to private practice, eventually starting his own firm in Walnut Creek, specializing in real estate, contract, and general business law.
Malcolm was a long time active parishioner at St. Monica Catholic Church (Moraga) and at St. Mary's Catholic Church (Walnut Creek), serving in choir, liturgy, and family & pro-life ministries. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and most recently volunteered at the Diocese of Oakland's Pope Francis Legal Clinic.
Malcolm is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 59 years, his sons Cameron King (Tracy) of Cedar Park, Texas and Brendan King (Christy) of Sacramento, California, and his seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Michael King. Malcolm was predeceased by his parents John and Catherine King, and his sister Sheila Wallace. In his memory, donations may be made to Birthright of Concord (https://birthright.org/concord) or Food for the Poor (http://www.foodforthepoor.org/)
A funeral mass will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church in Moraga at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 9th, with a reception to follow and burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette at 2:30 p.m.
