Marilyn Sharp Obituary

Marilyn Sharp
Lafayette
Marilyn Sharp passed away quietly on September 18, 2014 surrounded by her beloved children. She was 84 years old. Mom was love. She was happiness. Mom was tenderness and understanding. We were her pride. And we are blessed to have had her as our mother.
Marilyn graduated from Albany High School in 1948. She married Dale Sharp in 1951. They had four children: Cindy, Matt, Claudia, and Jenny. The family moved to Pinole in 1958.
Marilyn stayed home and took care of the house, worked in her yard but, mostly, she took care of her children. She loved having a family. She loved making grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, sewing dresses for her little girls, being room mother and yard lady at Ellerhorst Elementary School, and visiting with neighbors. It was a simple, wonderful life.
Marilyn and Dale opened the family business, "Dale Sharp Bicycle," in Pinole in 1971.
For many years, Marilyn and Dale spent their winters at a lovely retirement community in the desert. When Dale passed away, Marilyn continued to spend her winters there, enjoying the home they had made together, the sunshine, her garden, and visiting and laughing with her many treasured friends.
Marilyn was warmth. Optimism. Compassion. She was forgiveness and generosity. Marilyn was affectionate. Spiritual. Wise. Determined and tough.
Marilyn's faith in God was strong. She knew she had lived a beautiful life. And that she would be reunited with beloved family and friends in Heaven.
And we take comfort in knowing that right now, Mom is having the best time – smiling and laughing and hugging precious family and friends and saying "Oh, Hun! Oh, Hun!"
Marilyn is lovingly remembered by her children: Cynthia and her husband, Roger; Matt Sharp and his wife, Sally; and Claudia and her husband, Bill. And by her seven adored grandchildren, of whom she was so proud: Brigitte (Miguel), Emily, Benjamin (Jamie), Lindsey (Scott), Molly, Sydney, and Mitchell. And by her three great-grandchildren who lit up her life. As well as many dear friends at her home in the desert with whom she had so much fun.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and by her daughter, Jennifer.
At Marilyn's request, we will not have formal services, but will celebrate her life at a family gathering at a later date.

Very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I remember being in Mr. Botta's and Mr. Vincent's classes and Mrs. Sharp was our favorite yard lady. I was very sorry when Jenny passed away too. Wishing your family well.
