Michael Bishop Obituary

Michael James Bishop Oct. 19, 1982~March 28, 2011 Resident of San Francisco On March 28, family and friends lost Mike Bishop. Mike was born in San Francisco and grew up in Moraga. Upon graduating from the University of Puget Sound, where he majored in music and Spanish, he returned to San Francisco, adopting it as his beloved city. Mike was a talented, wise, gentle, sweet, kind, creative, giving and joyful young man who loved to laugh. He played violin in an orchestra all his life, most recently in the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony (BARS). Mike was well-traveled and he loved to ride his mountain bike, cook with friends and attend music festivals. He worked at the Anti-Defamation League and had plans for graduate school in the field of urban planning and design, taking several night classes toward that goal. Mike is survived, and deeply missed, by his mother, Kay James; father and step-mother Tom and Terri Bishop; brother Brendan Bishop; grandmother Eileen Bishop; step-brothers Christian and Scott Hedegaard-Schou; partner Tanya Kaplow; and countless friends and other family members. A service celebrating Mike's life will be held in early May. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance at: www.dbsalliance.org/ MichaelJamesBishop

I'll miss our great conversations and your constant smile. You were always so kind and willing to be the listening ear when needed. There will be so many things missing in the world now that you are gone. Peace be unto you.
