Nicholas Tucci Obituary

Nicholas Joseph Tucci
November 2, 1948 - March 20, 2020
42 year Resident of Lafayette
Nicholas Tucci passed away peacefully on March 20, 2020 with his devoted wife Stephanie at his side. He was 71.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey, Nick moved to San Jose, California at a young age. He graduated from Cupertino High School and San Jose State University, where he developed lifelong friendships. He met his "bride" in 1970, and this past January, they celebrated fifty years together. A year later, Nick enlisted in the Army Reserves. While away, he wrote letters and poems that won her heart. They married in l972 and lived in Mountain View, then San Jose. In l978, they settled in the little town they loved, Lafayette, and raised their family.
Nick had a successful career as a Corporate Credit/Marketing Manager until he retired in 2014. He was respected by all who worked for him--an easy going guy with a great sense of humor. Nick loved Lake Tahoe and spending family vacations on Meeks Bay-a tradition for decades. He enjoyed the SF Giants, his vegetable garden, cross country skiing, playing the harmonica and many other activities--he was a man of multiple talents.
Nick's family was the joy of his life. He was a fun, gentle dad and a treasured "Poppa". He will be dearly missed. Nick is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Stephanie, daughter Michelle Brice (Josh), son Michael Tucci (Jeannine) and was blessed with four grandchildren, Sophia, Noah, Russell and Charlie. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy (Meyer), aunts, uncles and cousins and was a dear brother-in-law and Uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Eve Tucci.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.If you would like to honor Nick, donations may be made to St.Jude's Children's Hospital.

My darling Nick,
I treasure our keepsakes-especially a letter you wrote two weeks before you came home from army reserves. You were with me in that moment...the one I randomly chose was dated July 29, 1971. We were engaged in December and didn´t know that we would be married one year later on that exact date. You wrote me beautiful love letters. This was the sweetest one. July 29th will remain in my heart forever, as it gave me YOU, my dear husband and father to our precious children.
On this five year anniversary, all my love to you always!

I am so sorry to learn of Nick´s passing. I lived around the block from Nick from 1959 to 1963. We were the best of friends, playing baseball in the street and on our sandlot field, and just hanging out in the neighborhood. My family moved after our freshman year at Cupertino High, and I last saw him the summer after our college graduation. However, even after more than 50 years, I have lasting memories of the time Nick and I spent together as young teenagers. He was always the jokester, but most impressively he was friendly with everyone he came in contact with. I also remember many times he was the peacemaker when tensions were high with a group of kids.

Nick, Tony and I were the three musketeers in high school. We played baseball together, we all drove a Corvair Monza, we all went to the same Junior College then State College. We also went to a rock and roll place called the Warehouse in downtown San Jose before we were even 21. We all piled into Nick's Dads care and went to Lake Tahoe together. We all went to Gasquet together. Nick's dry sense of humor always kept us laughing even when no one else was in on the joke. I miss you buddy.

Nick and I meet on the baseball field in 1964. Nick , Terry and I became life long friends on that ball field. We did everything together in high school. Nick had such a wicked sense of humor, that some people didn't seem to get it. Like if he didn't want to do something he'd say I can't, I have to take my mom grocery shopping. He did it with a straight face and some people believed it. He was one of the smartest people I ever knew, but didn't need show it. You are lucky to have a few true friends in your life and I could count Nick as one of them.
When Nick and Stephanie meet they found the love of their lives. The first time I meet Stephanie I knew Nick had found the one and a short time after that they were married. It was my honor to be asked to be their best man. To say his family was the most important thing to him is an understatement. When we talked it was always about our families and how proud he was of his kids and then his grandchildren.
The other thing we always talk about was SF Giants. We both would say that they had to win the World Series ,so we could Rest In Peace and now he can. So save me a seat next to you in the bleachers.

Your friend for ever:
Tony Santaferraro

When my sister married Nick, she gave me the brother I never had. We shared so many wonderful memories over the years. As young marrieds, there were parties, camping and meeting at Tahoe. Later as we had our own families, we never missed a holiday or special occasion to join together in celebration.

No matter where we were or what we did, Nick was always there, faithful and supportive with his kind and gentle manner. I most especially remember his loving ways with my sister. It was obvious from the way he treated her that he really idolized her. I most love remembering how, even after so many years of marriage, he still called her his "bride".

Thank you, Nick, for loving my baby sister so! You have filled her with love to last a lifetime, more than enough to share with your beautiful children and grandchildren. Rest now in God's peace and enjoy your Heavenly home after a life of loving so well!
