Richard Cabral Obituary

Richard Kent Cabral, Jr
Nov. 19, 1994 - May 18, 20014
Castro Valley
Richard (Richie) Kent Cabral Jr., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday May 18, 2014 at 19 years of age. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin. A true friend to many, he could always make you laugh. Richard grew up close to his sister Sarah, who is just 14 months older. Richard graduated from Earl Warren High School in 2013. Richard was very athletic, excelling at many sports including soccer, basketball, swimming, skateboarding, snowboarding, bowling and baseball. Richard had an incredible knack for figuring out how things worked. Growing up a strong swimmer he worked as a lifeguard in the summers and became a certified jr. scuba diver. Richard will be remembered as a respectful, soft spoken, intelligent young man, always supportive of others, accepting them as they are and expecting other people to do the same. Richard was a passionate and intense young man, always willing and able to help with any need expressed by another. Those that loved and knew him grieve the loss of his love and his incredible potential. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather "Papa" Vincent Cabral , aunt Rosemary Mintz, and his faithful yellow lab Buddy the best friend dog. Richard is survived by his loving parents Brigette and Rick, his adored sister Sarah, an extended family, and many friends. Richard's warm smile and positive nature will be deeply, deeply missed. The Funeral Liturgy Celebrating his life will be on June 20th at 10:30am at All Saints Church, 22824 Second Street, Hayward, Ca. There will be a gathering following the funeral at the Palomares Clubhouse. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette will be private.

Very shocked and saddened to hear about Richard. My most sincere condolences to Rick, Brigette and family. I had the pleasure of being Richard's soccer coach between 2006 and 2009. Richard was such a great kid, the strongest and most solid defender at that age that I can recall. Such potential. Always thought it was a shame when he decided to stop playing. I will have a quiet moment on Friday to pay my respects.
