Roberta "Bobbie" Edge

Bobbie Edge, passed away Dec. 16 as the sun set into the ocean at Gold Beach, OR. Born in Middletown, OH, she had two younger brothers. She played the piano and saxophone. After she studied chemistry at Ohio Wesleyan where she was an initiate of Chi Omega, there were few jobs for women in chemistry as they were given to men returning from the war. She became a market research interviewer for Proctor and Gamble traveling all over North America for 10 years. Without applying for the job, she was offered a position as a stewardess for Capitol Airways. After flying overseas for a couple of years, she married a pilot and settled in Vallejo, CA. They had one child, Stacy. Bobbie lived in Pleasant Hill for 50 years. She served on the 4th of July Commission and was a member of Dusty Wings, the Pleasant Hill Historical Society and the Ukelele Club of Santa Cruz. A woman of deep faith in Jesus, she was always active in her church and became a Seventh-day Adventist in the 1980's. She led her daughter's Camp Fire group and supported her daughter's dance, music and other endeavors. She was interested in healthy eating before most people had heard of food additives or organic food. She influenced others to pursue a healthy lifestyle. She also enjoyed crafts. She made beautiful centerpieces for a monthly church luncheon that were auctioned to raise funds for the church. Bobbie is survived by her daughter Stacy (Joe).
