What a tragedy to occur to a young successful man in his prime but what a bittersweet twist of fate to truly live your legend and then become one.

I just learned about Scott, my son Giovanni, handed me a questionnaire titled; " 27 QUestions to find your Passion" A part of the live your legend , passionate work toolkit. He asked me to take it home an read it. This wonderfully intelligent man was in touch with his soul. Thank you for your gift Scott, you leave a legacy for others not to be lost in the mundaneness... You went and showed the world how to do life!

I was at a very low point in my life a few years ago when I accidentally came across Scott's website. I think I came by it through Zen Habits. Anyway, the things he was talking about really affected me but I was too fearful to make the changes that I needed to. As I have come back around and begun to reconnect with the voices that inspire me I was once again led to Scott and his encouraging words. Even though he is no longer with us his words and work will continue to be a voice of encouragement to those of us trying to follow in the path he blazed for us.

Dearest Scott, the date is Friday, November 20th, 2015. I am a retired African American teacher, looking to find my calling in life. That calling is to help make lives better for stray animals. Your life will ultimately affect their lives in a positive way. That is one of the many ways you have contributed to the world. Thank you Scott, for living in a world in which you've made better. Rest in peace.

Dear Chelsea and the Dinsmore Family,
I am so sorry. I cannot imagine what you are going through. I feel devastated by Scott's passing and I have only had him in my life for a couple of years. But his impact is so immense I can't remember my life before him. Thank you for sharing Scott with us, the LYL family and the world. His enthusiasm, passion, wisdom, authenticity and vulnerability gave several of us permission to show up in the world as ourselves, striving for our best but not perfection. Scott showed me about taking imperfect action. Because of Scott, I went from an isolated stay at home mom reeling from a career burnout in medicine, to living a life aligned with my ideals, starting a blog, finding the right career path, connecting with likeminded kindreds and moving across the country from Baltimore to San Diego to be surrounded by the 5 people Scott always described.I have taken every course Scott created and I am forever changed. My heart mourns with you. I sit with you during this time of bereavement. Please know that Scott's legacy lives on in us... I am committed to living my own legend in honor of Scott. I love you Scott. God bless you. Love, Yvonne Whitelaw

Chelsea and Family,
Just today I found Scott's TED Talk and began the 27 questions to find my passion. I was so inspired I emailed my fiancé currently serving overseas. He began researching and told me of this. I just wanted to reach out and let you know that he is still touching lives. I have a feeling he will continue to touch lives like all the greats. I'm sure you can only imagine how much he will help to accomplish if those of us that were truly inspired continue the well laid out guide he created. Like MLK Jr, Kennedy, Ghandi, Plato, Socrates, and Marley their work was some how more profound after death. I've lost a great many souls in my lifetime and I can promise you he will be with you every step of the way. I hope you continue his legacy and your own. Find comfort in the simple truth that you are in the hearts of perfect strangers-and that my darling is an amazing blessing he has left you with. Never give up!

It is such a shame to have logged on as I usually do anticipating my weekly reminder to "Live my Legend" only to see the news. I immediately got those "bad" goosebumps and a turn in my stomach - the kind that lets you know something is off. Be that as it may my prayrs are with Chelsea and the entire Live your legend team and with Scotts family. Best we can do now n order to truly honour his warrior spirit is by doing and living as he wished for us all as Legends.

To Chelsea and to the Dinsmore family,

I was one of the thousands that Scott touched through his work at LYL. I wrote more about that on a blog post and the Facebook tribute but felt it more fitting to write to you, his family, here directly.

Chelsea, meeting you and Scott at WDS last year was one of the highlights of not just my year, but my life. His generosity - if it were not for LYL I wouldn't have even been there - was incredible and will never be forgotten.

I see how much he made an impact on the world, on people he met in real life maybe once or twice like myself, or even never met at all, and I cannot imagine being in your position.

Scott talked about you all often on webinars and in conversation and you could see the love in his eyes when he did that.

After I finished one of his courses, I made the attached image for him with a picture I found on his Instagram. He created an incredible legacy and his spirit will live on through you and everyone he touched forever. My deepest condolences and prayers to you all.

Altho I never got to meet Scott, I felt a connection and his sincere caring about each of us as a friend. He is a very special person to be able to encourage us to live our dreams and use the God given talents we were born with. I admire his example and childlike wonder of nature and adventure that I feel in my heart.
It is with a feeling of great loss that I am saddened to think of his passing...
It caused me to once again realize how fragile life and breath are, and the need to create a meaningful life; rather than live life to "get it over with". I truly value his example.

Heartfelt best wishes & prayers to all who loved him,
Virginia Anderson

Scott helped me in many ways but yet we have never met. I have two cardiac diseases and I'm partially deaf but Scott was there when I needed. His words travelled across the ocean till Sardinia, where I heard them. Dear Chelsea, dear Scott's family and relatives, I would now use my mother's words to say it: "I was lucky to know an angel that stayed in our world for such a short time". Dear Scott thank you. A new legend is truly born with you. And I'm doing something that will make you and your family proud, I'm living my legend !! Davide Diana

Condolences to Chelsea, Mr & Mrs Dinsmore.

You were instrumental in shaping an awesome life. I will always remember Scott Dinsmore as someone who overcome adversity, and social stigma related to job loss into an movement of transformation. A movement to do meaningful work, purposeful work and lead impactful lives in the process. He will continue to be an influence and know that he is going to be in the arms of Jesus. His purpose was completed on earth, and he is back with the Lord. RIP Scott.

I had the honor of sharing the TEDx stage with Scott. I was immediately caught up in his enthusiasm, energy, and lofty goals. I'm floored by his passing. He and I spoke about following our passions and living life on our terms. Scott did just that. He knew it's not the quantity of life, but rather the quality. Scott lived a great life and touched many people. His legacy shall live on. Thank you Scott for all you contributed to the world.

I never got the chance to meet Scott but have been inspired by him since being laid off from my job of 16 years in March. I too aspire to find my passions and purpose and finding his website let me know that many others were on a similar journey. Following his blog about his travels with Chelsea gave me a spirit of wanderlust leading to my upcoming solo trip to many of the places he recently traveled including Florence, Italy and both Cappadocia and Instanbul, Turkey. I will find a way to honor his legend while there.

Althogugh shocked and saddened, I have been in awe at the impact of his legacy. His legend will survive and thrive and somewhere he is smiling down on us all.

To Chelsea and Mr & Mrs Dinsmore.

I am in pain and feeling a very deep sense of loss but know that no words can describe YOUR loss. Scott's life was a gift to mankind and may embracing that truth bring you comfort. I can only imagine what he'd say to comfort us if he could be back for just one brief moment... He was full of life and cheer. He was all about honoring and celebrating the gift of life...

He showed us how to live a life of passion and purpose... I am grateful and thank God for the gift that was Scott's life.

I am sadly late in hearing the news, but devastated all the same. I never had the honor and pleasure of meeting Scott, but I've admired him and his work for several years now. His enthusiasm and passion for his work was infectious, and I was so thrilled for him and Chelsea when they announced their round-the-world tour and I looked forward to their updates and Scott's wisdom from the road.

Scott was never afraid to put himself out there and be silly (who can forget the breakdancing video?), or even to address more serious issues, as well as his own detractors. He was always working to open communications and to make things better for those around him. I also love that he took the time to respond to comments to his blog, a rarity these days for high impact blogs like his.

The world has lost a truly brilliant, bright light in Scott, but I believe that the legacy he is leaving behind in Live Your Legend, will continue to inspire many thousands of others who have the good fortune to come across his work through those he entrusted to work with him. The loss is profound for those who knew Scott, or who simply knew of him and his good work. My heartfelt condolences go out to Chelsea and Scott's family and friends. I hope they know that they have a huge support network in Scott's LYL Community. Godspeed, Scott. If there is such a thing as reincarnation, and I happen to believe there is, I imagine you'll be back among us in no time and creating yet another legendary life.

I first heard of Scott when I saw his truely inspiring Ted talk last year. His passion and energy were just so captivating. I was following his and the lovely Chelesa's (Chief Balancing officer:), adventures since before they embarked on their world adventure - the video of you 2 guys standing in your apartment with the world map just before you began your adventures, showed how connected you guys were with each other. Chelesa I am so sorry to hear of your loss, my heart goes out to you and I wish you much strength with going forward. Cry as many tears as you want to cry and write letters to Scott - it helps so much with grieving. Also to Scott's Mum, Dad, Sister and little nieces, I am sorry to hear of your loss. Scott lived a legendary life and will continue to inspire the world as he did when he was with us. May Scott rest in Peace.

I discovered Scott's TED talk less than a year ago and he has been inspiring me ever since with his joy and passion to make every moment count. We were all so lucky to have experienced his light in the world. I will help keep his message alive, and I'm forever grateful for what he's taught me and continues to teach me. My heart is broken, and my thoughts are with Chelsea and Scott's parents, family and friends.

September 18, 2015

I want to thank Scott for coming into my life without even having met. I wouldn't have known his story had I not summited Mt. Kilimanjaro just a couple weeks before Scott and Chelsea's attempt. I found out about the tragic news when a friend told me about it, and I was immediately drawn to his TED talk and his views on finding passion in work, and surrounding yourself with people who are passionate, positive, and strive to do the impossible. I will continue to live by that motto daily, but somehow apply it to my work as well. Thank you for living your legend and leaving your mark on the world. I am forever changed, and the world was very lucky to have you. Rest peacefully and my condolences to Scott's family and friends.

I wish I had to chance to personally thank him for the inspiring message he left us.

He may not be with us physically anymore, but the message he embodied, his soul, his heart, whatever you want to call it, still exists.

His message will continue to inspire others, and in that way he lives forever.

I am not good with grief so I'm not sure what would be appropriate to say or not say, but I hope his family finds solace in the fact that their pain is shared by many; it is a weight we all share and I hope that lightens the burden.

I am so shocked to hear of Scott's passing away today. We know that he is in a better place now, but I can't but feeling that he left us way too soon.

Scott's father mentioned that he had accomplished more in his short 33 years more than most folks do in their lifetimes, and rightly so. With this truth known, Scott's looming legacy is one which we who survive him cannot afford to ignore. During his life, he challenged, exhorted, encouraged, empathized with myriads of people, and he led by example in the biggest way.

However, even after his passing, Scott exclaims, "what are you doing with YOUR life to Live Your Legend?" to those who have ears to hear.

I hear you, man.

Thank you, Scott.

My condolences to his lovely wife, Chelsea, and his family.

I was so impressed by this young man when I saw him on Ted Talks. He was so committed and energized that I'm sure he has had a profound affect on many people. I still use his weekly planning technique which has benefited me greatly. He will be missed but wouldn't it be great if all of us could have as much positive effect on the world as he has. His family is very fortunate.

After watching Scott's talk online, I began following him avidly online. Reading what he had to say about life, work, and passion makes a real difference to my life every day. Scott's work helped me to make what formerly seemed like an impossible decision - to actually do the work I need to do. For so many years I had worried constantly about what other people might think of me were I to make the changes I so desperately wanted. Scott's message reached me, and affected me profoundly. It's hard even to articulate what this message has meant to me.

I really believe that Scott is a revolutionary, a genius, and in possession of the truest heart. His message was vital and affirmative. I will always admire him and take inspiration from his message. To his wife, family and friends - be strong, be proud. I offer my sincerest condolences as one of Scott's many fans.

Scott's legend, his revolution will continue. xx

I had just found Scott's LYL site after taking the "Should I Quit" test. I have been amazed at the resources and generosity Scott has given to his community. No hard sells, just true encouragement to live the life we dream about. I am deeply saddened by his loss, and pray that his wife and family find peace. I am forever changed by what Scott has offered and am in the process of changing my life the way Scott has urged us to do. THANK YOU SCOTT! YOU ARE AMAZING! Love, Lorie

I didn't know Scott, but he was a true inspiration for my son and helped him decide to quit a job he hated to find his true passion and "legend." Hearing of his tragic death really hit hard. That is the power of someone who is truly transformational; someone whose passion reaches beyond the internet and can cause an emotional reaction in someone who is thousands of miles away. I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Chelsea, Mr and Mrs Dinsmore, and Scott's close family and friends. My name is Nikki Smith. I'm from Australia and I wanted to say hello and share my heartfelt condolences with you.
I also wanted to share one of my favourite memories with you and a little bit about how Scott has influenced my life. I'll be forever thankful to Scott for his courses, personal encouragement to me and enthusiasm.
Thanks to Scott and the course communities, I remembered that I love strengths theory and know something about it. I have now shaped a business around teaching people about strengths. Yes, this is work that makes me come alive.
One of my favourite memories is from when i was enrolled in the connect with anyone course and then part of the connection team. One of the modules features the importance of being vulnerable and the work of Brene Brown. I emailed Scott and invited him to take a vulnerability challenge. As you can imagine he said yes and did so with full throttle vulnerability. He went to break dancing lessons and shared the video that Chelsea took of him. The combination of his oh so steep learning curve in breakdancing, and Chelsea's giggling behind the camera makes this one of the funniest and yet heart warming videos. He then invited me to do the same which I had no option other than to say yes and follow through. which I did with an impromptu singing performance where my 4 year old daughter encouraged me to practice more for the next one. ;) We need leaders to walk their talk. Thank you! Love, Nikki

I'm listening to Scott's Ted talk broadcast. It's wonderful to see him full of life and filled with the great passion he had for living a meaningful life. He had so much to give and so much to teach. It's a terrible loss to everyone he touched.
