Tadeuse Macur Obituary

Tadeuse (Ted) Macur July 15, 1918 - May 6, 2012 Resident of Jackson, CA Former Resident of Fremont Ted was born in South Sioux City, Nebraska, the son of Andrew and Mary Macur. Following his graduation from East High School in Sioux City, Iowa, he attended and graduated from Morning-side College. While there, he met and courted his future wife, Elma Vollink. They were later married in Far Rockaway, New York, where Ted was stationed at nearby Floyd Bennett Field as a Navy pilot during World War II. Soon he was deployed to North Africa where he piloted his PBY airplane to the western Atlantic and the Strait of Gibraltar on numerous missions. His responsibility was to search for treacherous enemy submarines that had infiltrated Allied waters. Following the war, Ted devoted his professional career to education. He was a teacher and principal for over 30 years in Iowa and Fremont, CA. He is survived by Elma, his wife of 68 years & their children: Roger (Sherrill); Randy (Janet-deceased); Michael (Lynn) & Mary Ann. Six grandchildren also survive him: Amy Dupuis (Bret); Mark Macur; Erica Kantack (Matt); Nicole & Allison Macur, & Clinton Tremelling. Five great-grandchildren also survive him. Dad was cherished, admired and revered by his family. Expressions of condolences may be sent to Elma Macur, 150 Gordon Place, Jackson, CA 95642.
