Thomas Bryant Obituary

Thomas F. Bryant Jr. Former Resident of Danville Thomas F. Bryant Jr. peacefully passed away Friday, August 31, 2007 at his home in Oceanside, CA. He was 87. Tom had lived with his family on Everett Drive in Danville for 35 years before moving to Oceanside in 1999. He was born November 19, 1919 in New Orleans, LA. Tom attended Brooklyn Tech High School and the University of Wyoming, class of '42, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and the track team. He was an ardent and loyal UW supporter, he had traveled to Wyoming for homecoming 21 years in a row. Tom proudly served in the Air Force during WWII and Korea as a navigator, radar bombardier, and instructor onboard the B-17 and B-36, retiring as a Major. He was active with numerous veteran associations as well as a member of the Walnut Creek Elks, Mensa, DLOC, and was a longtime AAU track official. He will long be remembered for his love of country, amazing memory, thirst for knowledge, as well as his wit and sense of humor. Tom is survived by his 7 daughters, Kathleen Miller of Claredon Hills, IL, Joan Bryant of Portland, OR, Corby Nichol of Molokai, HI, Kyle Dakin of San Diego, CA, Stacey Becker of San Clemente, CA, Dayna Schramm of Oceanside, CA, Blythe Harris of Auburn, CA, and their spouses; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; as well as extended family and friends. A private family service will be held on September 28th, 2007 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, CA. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations in his honor to the University of Wyoming Alumni Association.

Tom was my next door "dad" through my growing years. When I came through our adjoining gate, he would greet me and then always ask about my boyfriend's latest track record. I smile with warm memories of Tom Bryant!
