William MacTavish Obituary

William "Mac" MacTavish
Aug. 3, 1921-May 9, 2012
Resident of Antioch
William Warren "Mac" MacTavish passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2012. His wife of 65 years, Faye, and his two daughters, Judy Bedard (Frank) of Antioch, CA and Janet Larson (Weldon) of Chico, CA were at his side when he passed. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott, 13 years ago.
Mac lived a full life that included service in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a navigator in B-17s flying 30 missions over Europe. He returned from the war and married the love of his life, Faye Holmes. They settled in what was then a tiny town, Pleasant Hill, where they lived for 61 of their 65 years together. Mac could often be seen in his front yard or on the porch watching the people and traffic go by. For the last 3 years he and Faye lived at The Commons at Dallas Ranch in Antioch.
After raising their children, he and Faye were active in the Oldsmobile Club and traveled all over the country showing their 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible. They won awards for it in most of the shows they entered. They were also active in his WWII 452nd Bomb group, attending many reunions over the years.
Mac is also survived by his grandson Brian Zimmer (Regina) and his three great grandchildren Riley, Matthew and Delaney; all of Antioch.

I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He was a great guy. He was so nice to all of us through those crazy teen years. I know that you will miss him tremendously.
