Rosary for Edna Navarrete, 23 of Odessa formally of Portales, will be recited at 7:00 PM on Tuesday May 28, 2013, at St. Helen Catholic Church where the Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday May 29, 2013 with Fr. James McGowan as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Portales Cemetery with Eugenio Navarrete, Cruz Ramirez Jr., Eugenio Alberto Navarrete, Cruz Ramirez III, Javier Puebla, Ronaldo Romero, Horacio Nieto and Osbaldo Navarrete III as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be all her family and friends.
Edna was born on February 18, 1990, in Portales to Ricardo Navarrete and Maria Ramirez and went to be with our Lord on May 23, 2013, in Odessa, Texas. She was a 2008 graduate of Portales High School and lived in Portales all her life until a year ago she moved to Odessa. Edna was a loving person to everyone and always had a smile. She was everything to her Dad and was always there for him. She was a great and loving daughter, mother, niece and granddaughter.
Edna is survived by her two sons, Damian Rey Duarte and Rey Decel Duarte, her father, Ricardo Navarrete of Portales, her mother, Maria Ramirez of Floyd, her sister, Delta Navarrete and her brother, Ricardo Navarrete Jr.. She is also survived by her grandparents of both sides, Antonio and Consuela Navarrete of Elida, and Cruz and Bertha Ramirez of Mexico. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive her.

Another year passed. It crazy that I was thinking of you and how happy you were when I got you that penguin cake for your birthday just a year before your passing; 2012. I read the other postings in this online book. My note from last year was the most recent. Your teacher's memory of your Selena singing made me smile. i'd give you hell about that. Miss you. I can't believe it has been 8 years past. Seems far away and not so long ago at the same time. See you one day.

So sorry to hear about Edna. I was her first grade teacher. I pulled out my class pictures and there she was in the front row with her pretty smile and white boots! I'll never forget her rendition of Selena's "como la flor" during our Cinco de Mayo performance! You wIll be missed! Sra. Baca
