Willard Hamilton Jr. Obituary
Willard Max Hamilton Jr. affectionately known as Mickey, gained his angel wings on May 2nd, 2025 in Carlsbad, NM after a lengthy illness. He was 73.
Services will be held on July 25, 2025 at 2:00pm at Muffley Funeral Home 1430 N Thornton, Clovis, NM.
Mickey was born on August 9, 1951 in Hollywood, California to Willard and Orma Hamilton. He was the youngest of five children.
Mickey grew up in California and joined the United States Army in 1969 as an Army Medical Specialist.
In 1970, Mickey married the love of his life, Karen, whom he has been reunited with. They were married for 51 years at the time of Karen's passing.
After they were married, Mickey was stationed in Japan. On December 16, 1971, they welcomed their first child, Cheryl Lee in Okinawa.
After leaving Japan, they went back to California.
On August 18,1974, their second child Roxanne Elizabeth was born in Big Bear Lake. Mickey left the Army in 1975.
On July 4, 1983, the family moved to Clovis, New Mexico, where they called home for the last 42 years.
In New Mexico, Mickey worked at Boyd's where he was ASE certified in front-end alignments and mufflers. After the closing of Boyd's, he went to work for York Tire. He did front end alignments and later became the manager.
During his career he joined the New Mexico State Defense Force.
Mickey also ran a Mr. W fireworks stand for over 30 years. He became the supervisor for several different areas. Fourth of July was his favorite holiday, he loved this job he had and he had tons of fireworks to shoot off whenever he wanted to, whether it was July or not. He later retired and went to work for Walmart in the garden center and later as a door greeter.
Mickey enjoyed hunting with friends and his grandson George, and he spent lots of summers and holidays at the lake with family and friends.
Family was everything to Mickey. He wanted to enjoy his time with as much family as he could. At the time of his death, he was at his youngest daughter's house.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Orma and Willard Hamilton Sr. ,two sisters, Nona and Lisa and his loving wife, Karen.
Survivors include daughters, Cheryl Martinez and husband, Art, Roxanne Melendrez and husband, Mike of Carlsbad, NM , 8 grandchildren, George Martinez and wife Christina, of Clovis, NM Samantha Smith and husband Smitty, of Amarillo, Tx., Victoria Smith and husband Timmothy, Stormilee Bush and husband Tyler, of Roswell, NM., 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, Brother, Roger Hamilton as well as Brothers-in-law, Monty, Mike and wife Patti, Terry and wife, Peggy, all of California and Rick of Hawaii. Mickey also has his beloved fur babies, Sassy and Chloe.
Mickey was a wonderful father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
