David Johnson, Jr. Obituary

David Johnson, Jr., 71, of Madison, Fla., passed unexpectedly on Thurs., Jan. 16, 2025. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at St. James M.B. Church, with interment in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Friday at St. James. A graduate of Madison County High School, David enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation. He served as an Army reservist, retiring after more than 20 years. He also served as an officer with the Madison Police Department and later worked in the building construction industry. In recent years, he was the owner-operator of Johnson's Vault Service. Mr. Johnson was a deacon at St. James and a car enthusiast. Treasuring his love and legacy are his loving wife, Gwendolyn Cobb Johnson; sons: Shedrick, Bryce and Rashad Johnson; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Johnson; brother-in-law, Donald (Willie) Cobb, Ramon Glee and Major Cobb; sisters-in-law, Virginia Cobb and Wanda Glee; and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceding David in death were his son, Kendall David Johnson; parents: David Sr. and Rosa Barfield Johnson; brother, Eugene Johnson and sister, Eunice Johnson.
