Edward Vollertsen Obituary

Edward Woods Vollertsen passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Monticello, Fla., on June 23, 2024. Ed grew up in Pewee Valley, Ky. He graduated from Millersburg Military Institute and joined the U.S. Army, where he served at Fort Knox, Ky., and Fort Chaffee, Ark., and was recognized as a sharpshooter. After his time in the military, he graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Business Administration and relocated his family to Tallahassee.
Upon retirement from the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, he relocated to Monticello, volunteered with the Ashville Volunteer Fire Department, attended the Methodist Church and worked for Capital City Bank. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, church activities and his American classic cars and trucks.
Ed is survived by his three sons, Craig W. Vollertsen, Sr. (Donna), Mark R. Vollertsen (Sandy) and Terry Devine (Donna); grandchildren, Craig Vollertsen, Jr. (Gabby), Brock Vollertsen, Bradley Vollertsen, Brian Vollertsen and Jack Vollertsen; his great-grandchildren, Savannah Vollertsen, and Gabriel Vollertsen; and General Lee, his beloved big dog.
Interment will take place at Tallahassee National Cemetery on July 17, 2024, at 10 a.m. A funeral service will follow at the First Methodist Church of Monticello beginning at 11 a.m.
