Linda Shettle Obituary

Linda Wuerffel Shettle passed to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, in Astor, Fla., where she and Stephen enjoyed their retirement years on the St. Johns River in Volusia County. She fought colon cancer for the past year.
Linda was born in Monticello, Fla., on Sept. 25, 1949. She graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1967, attended and graduated Florida State University with a Bachelors of Science in 1971, and completed a Masters of Science Degree from University of Tampa in 1981. Linda retired from the Hillsborough County School District after 30 years of teaching in Tampa and Brandon.
The love of Linda's life were her poodles. She leaves behind her 14-year-old toy poodle, Hank, rescued at age 10. Her sister Frankie and brother-in-law John will take care of Hank.
Linda leaves behind a sister, Franke (John) Parker, and Frieda (Bury) Fulford, 10 nieces and nephews that she adored, and several great nephews and nieces.
The family is so very grateful for Gloria Ellenburg and John Parker for their endless hours of devotion to Linda during this past year.
There will be a Riverside service at Paramoures Camp Ground on Feb. 17, 2024.
There will also be a graveside service on Feb. 24, 2024, at the Wuerffel site at Roseland Cemetery in Monticello Cemetery.
Donations can be sent to First Baptist Church of Brandon, Fla.

Linda was the sweetest person, she was our neighbor and asked her for years. I'm so sorry to hear of this, her and Steve can watch the diamonds on the water, together as she often talked about that's what drawed her to the St Johns River.
