Sharon Hickey Obituary

Sharon L. Hickey, 67, of Plato Township, passed away suddenly Sunday, April 29, 2007 in her home.

She was born January 30, 1940 in Elgin the daughter of Emory and Elma (Roush) Mowers. She was a 1958 graduate of Burlington High School where she was very active in school activities as a class officer, as well as excelling academically. Sharon married John M. Hickey on May 27, 1977 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Elgin. John passed away suddenly April 1, 2005.

Mrs. Hickey had worked at the Ackemann's Department Store in Elgin for 31 years. She then went to work at the Kane Co. Supervisor of Assessments Office for over 12 years, receiving her Certified Illinois Assessing Official license.

Sharon was a faithful and devoted member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of North Plato. She was also a member of the Hampshire VFW Auxiliary.

Surviving are a sister, Patricia (Charles "Chili") Lindgren of Plato twp.; three brothers, Gordon (Betty) Mowers of Elgin, Terry (Linda) Mowers of Burlington, and James (Jean) Mowers of Hampshire; several nieces and nephews, all of whom she considered her pride and joy; and a brother-in-law, Larry Kelly of Lake Delton, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, John.

The funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 3, 2007 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 43W301 Plank Rd., North Plato with Pastor Gerhard Mau officiating. Burial will be in the Hampshire Center Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Church. It will continue on Thursday from 10-11 AM prior to services.

Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church of North Plato.

Fredrick Funeral Home in Hampshire is assisting with arrangements. For information call 847-683-2711.
