John Daugherty Obituary
He was born in Ames, IA on December 21, 1951. He graduated from Mankato High school in 1970, and went on to get his bachelor's degree at Mankato State University. He married his high school sweetheart Marilee McNally of Mankato in 1973. They had two children, son Jay and daughter Joni. He worked as an administrative assistant in education for 35 years.
In his free time, you could always find him on a ball field or basketball court either playing or coaching the sports he loved. After retirement, you could find him spending time with his five grandchildren or on a golf course where he found a love for the sport. He left an impact on everyone he met. He is loved and missed.
Survived by his loving wife Marilee (McNally) Daugherty; son Jay (Aaron) Daugherty; daughter Joni (Daugherty) Grandia; grandchildren: Arianna, Alyssa and Jax Daugherty, Paige and Payton Grandia; brother Ronald Daugherty; brother-in-law William Lafavor and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Donald and Neva Daugherty; sisters Donna (Art) Swanson, Carol Lafavor; brother Dave (Valerie) Daugherty.
A celebration of John's life will be held at 1pm on Sunday, January 22nd at The Buff, 16722 198th Ave., Big Lake, MN 55309.

We were saddened to hear the news that our good friend from school days in Mankato had passed away. John was a classmate of ours from our years living in Mankato. Jim and he were close friends who spent a lot of time playing sports together all the way through to graduation from Mankato High School. John was instrumental in bringing us together, and, after 50 years we are very grateful for that. He will surely be missed. We extend our deepest sympathy to Marilee, their children Jay and Joni and to John's extended family.
