Bruce Neal Butler, 71, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Oct. 21, 2025, at Hellenic Assisted Living. He was born on Aug. 26, 1954, at Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma, Washington, to Charles and Marilyn (Anderson) Butler.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Butler, and his stepfather, John Horvath.
He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Horvath; his children Michelle (DeWayne) Rogers, Mallory Kaiser, Amber (Jeremy) White, and Michael Butler; and his siblings Laurie Suter, Brent (Jana) Butler, and Blake Butler. Bruce was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.
Bruce was well known throughout Elkhart County for his friendly smile and strong work ethic during his years at Burger Chef, Rax and Speedway. Later, he enjoyed traveling across the country transporting RVs – a job that perfectly matched his love of adventure and the open road.
He was an active member of the Jaycees, where he valued community involvement and friendship.
Bruce was quick-witted and loved to make people laugh. He was always up for a good game – whether it was cards, trivia or anything competitive – and he enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino.
A lifelong sports fan, Bruce faithfully cheered for the Chicago Cubs and "Da Bears," never missing a chance to catch a game or talk sports with anyone who would join him.
He will be remembered for his humor, kindness and the easygoing spirit that made everyone feel like an old friend.
