Claudette Ramsay Leist, 93, formerly of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Crown Point Health in Crown Point, Indiana.
She was born in Tipton, Indiana, on Oct. 24, 1931, to the late Floyd and Marie "Lily" (Chenouard) Ramsay.
Claudette was married on May 11, 1958, in Tipton, Indiana, to Claude Leist, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jack (Bobbie) Ramsay.
Claudette graduated from Butler University and took a position with WSJV television station in South Bend where she was employed for a year as the traffic director. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, loved going out to eat, shopping and spending time with her cats, Ashleigh and Trinka.
She is survived by her son, Jeff (Leigh Ann) Leist of Crown Point, and three nieces, Janet (Mel) Phiepho, Susan Waren and Lynn (Bill) Heinz and their families.
A visitation for Claudette will be held on Friday, June 20, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Private burial will take place at Rice Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local animal shelter or to the A.S.P.C.A., 424 E. 92nd St.. New York, NY 10128-6804.
