David J. Yoder, 72, of South Bend, died Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 19, 1951, in Goshen to David and Lydia (Chupp) Yoder.
Survivors include four children, Jeff, Jenny, Julie and Nick Yoder; caretaker Sue Wolf, Elkhart; and four sisters, Leona Baker, Middlebury, Bertha Yoder, Phoenix, Arizona, and Thelma Leinbach and Marilyn Yoder, both of Goshen.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Yoder.
David was a 1970 graduate of Fairfield High School. Following high school, he joined the United States Army, where he served from 1970 to 1973. "Airborne infantry all the way every day!"
After returning to Goshen, he worked in the rubber manufacturing industry until his retirement.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 4, at 1 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at noon.
Burial with military honors will follow at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
