Hunter Bryce Hoffman, 24, of Middlebury, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, while in hospice care at his home after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born on May 25, 2001, in Shelby, Ohio, to Thad and Stephanie (Barnd) Hoffman, who survive. On June 10, 2023, he married Marci (Miller) Hoffman, who also survives.
Hunter is survived by many loving family members including his sister Reyna Hoffman, grandparents Gary and Sharon (Reitz) Hoffman, grandparents Larry and Charlene (Carver) Barnd, along with numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition, survivors include his father and mother-in-law Lance and Jill (Troyer) Miller; siblings-in-law Dustin and Morgan (Miller) Yoder, and Collin and Kelly (Miller) Barker.
Hunter was dear to all who knew him. His love for God and others motivated him to live generously, joyfully and with deep sincerity. He lived his life on a mission for Jesus and was a faithful member of Maple City Chapel in Goshen. Hunter found immense joy in finding ways to bless others and spent his final months focused on the well-being of those around him.
Hunter often reminisced about the family vacations his parents prioritized and the memories created growing up alongside Reyna. He loved hunting and all types of sports. He excelled in baseball, which he played collegiately as a pitcher at Indiana Wesleyan University after graduating from Shelby High School in 2019. While Hunter offered great athletic skill from the mound, more notable was his dedication and humble leadership that many coaches and teammates considered rare.
Following his college graduation in 2023, Hunter married Marci and began his career as an accountant, taking pride in doing every task – big or small – with excellence. His respected colleagues at Kruggel Lawton CPAs doubled as friends and a support to Hunter, especially throughout his health journey.
Though quiet by nature, Hunter was known for his goofy sense of humor and his ability to fill a room with his contagious laughter. He adored being an uncle to his young nephews and niece and treasured every moment spent with his family. His bright mind and competitive nature made it nearly impossible to beat him in card games. He never missed an opportunity to create a memory or appreciate a cherished family tradition.
Most of all, Hunter was known for his honest faith. Upon graduating high school, Hunter chose to embroider Acts 20:24 on his baseball glove: "However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace." (NIV) Throughout his life, Hunter lived out this verse wholeheartedly, running his race with grace, courage, and selflessness-touching and inspiring many along the way.

In lieu of flowers, Hunter's desire was for memorial contributions to be made to the Puerta de Esperanza Care Point in Guatemala City, Guatemala, where he traveled on a mission trip and fell in love with the world change happening there. Checks can be made to Core Community Church (Memo: Puerta de Esperanza Care Point), 18 Seneca Dr., Shelby, OH 44875.
