Penny Matlock Obituary
Penny Lynn (Barbee) Matlock went to her final rest at home surrounded by family and loved ones at the tender age of 63 early Saturday morning, May 7, 2022, following a brief illness.
She is profoundly missed by her best friend and husband of just 14 months, John Landi of Elkhart.
Penny was born March 5, 1959. She leaves behind daughter Melissa (Todd) Rorie of Wakarusa and her children Joey, Emily and Allison Rorie also of Wakarusa and Shayla Matlock of Mishawaka. She also leaves daughter Jennifer (Brian) Keip and her children JC and Julia Byers of Elkhart. She is survived by brother Donald H. (Shirley) Barbee of Elkhart and sisters Judy Tidwell of Savannah, Tennessee, and Candy (Kim) Butt of Florence, Alabama, and many nieces and nephews including Phyllis and David Woods of Elkhart and Jessica Haddock of Savannah, Tennessee. Penny was preceded in death by her parents J.L. and Gladys M. (Harper) Barbee, brothers JC and Darrel Barbee, and sisters Shirley Myers and Sandra Atkinson.
Penny worked for a time at Alumax in Bristol but was predominantly a homemaker.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Thompson, Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Wakarusa. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at Old Olive Cemetery.
