Shirley L. DeShone, 85, of Elkhart, passed away Monday morning, Feb. 5, 2024, at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Shirley was born on July 1, 1938, in Elkhart to the late George and Zetta Marie Crofoot. Shirley graduated from Elkhart High School, and formerly worked at Bill's Lumber Co., Whitehall Laboratories and then NIBCO. She was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church.
She married her true love, Jack Lee DeShone. They built a wonderful life together with their three children, Randy (Tracey) DeShone, Scott (Kari) DeShone, Pamela (Jeff) Sutter; and 12 loving grandchildren, Craig Sutter, Ryan Sutter, Alyssa Dutton, Derrick DeShone, Brian DeShone, Sarah DeShone, Adam Deshone, Matt DeShone, Natalee DeShone, Jacquelyn DeShone, Rachel DeShone and Jake DeShone; and 13 great-grandchildren. Shirley truly excelled in her role of wife, mother and grandma, and will be missed by her family and friends.
She was sadly preceded in death by her husband Jack on Dec. 29, 2020, and a grandson, Drew Sutter, on May 22, 2019.
Family was everything to Shirley and she enjoyed all the activities her children and grandchildren were participating in. She also enjoyed time on the lake and river with friends and family.
Friends may visit with the family of Shirley on Monday, Feb. 12, from 11 a.m. to noon at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 411 W. Vistula, Bristol, IN 46507. A funeral mass will follow at noon with the Rev. Bob Van Kempen officiating. Cremation was chosen with inurnment at Rice Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request memorial donations to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
