Walter Robert "Bob" Whitmyer Jr., 79, of Bridgman, Michigan, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2025.
His life began July 3, 1946, in Dowagiac, Michigan, born to Walter and Ronni Whitmyer Sr.
Bob will be remembered as a very devoted family man and friend. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, spending countless hours outdoors where he felt at peace. Bob cherished his time with his family and friends, and nothing brought him greater happiness than being with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob is survived by his two daughters, Jessica (John) Kubit of Corona, California, and Taryn Whitmyer of Elkhart, Indiana; grandchildren Casey Guinn, Shelby Weidner, Kloey Weidner, Ava Kubit and Carter Kubit; great-grandchildren Alaina, Zayden and Evelyn; sister Shirley (Glen) Stone of Tennessee; brothers Melvin "Buddy" (Beverly) Whitmyer of New Hampshire and Dennis Whitmyer of San Diego, California; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Whitmyer.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Bob's life Sunday, Sept. 6, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Edwardsburg American Legion Post 365, 25751 U.S. 12, Edwardsburg.
Bob will be laid to rest in Reames and Norton Cemetery, Cassopolis.
