Wilbur Eugene Yoder, 86, of Goshen, formerly of Kokomo and Middlebury, passed away at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec.r 27, 2023, at Waterford Crossing Health Center, Goshen.
He was born on March 14, 1937, in Middlebury to Ervin and Barbara (Eash) Yoder. On Oct. 2, 1960, in Kokomo he married Evelyn Joyce Birkey; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Renette (Michael) Borton of Boca Raton, Florida, and Renee (Rick) Miller of Riverside, Iowa; son, Michael (Dr. Cathy) Yoder of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Crystal (Andrew) McGuire, Amanda (Zach) Wickey, Stephanie (Steve) Cooker, Melissa (fiancé, Ian Kron) Miller, Alexandra Borton, Kyle Yoder, Ryan (fiancé, Alexandra Rinderknecht) Miller, and Stephen Miller; great-grandchildren, Katelyn McGuire, Leah, Eve, Gideon and Hannah Wickey and Bryson Cooker; two sisters, Barbara Miller and Bertha Bontrager-Rhodes; and sister-in-law, Gail Yoder-Burt. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sylvia Miller, Edna Bechtel, Lydiann Miller; brother, Perry Yoder; granddaughter, Megan Marie Yoder; abd brothers-in-law, Stanley Miller, Clarence Bechtel, Fred Miller, Vernon J. Miller, Lloyd Bontrager and Jay Rhodes.
Wilbur spent 2½ years with the PAX program in Germany and Jordan. For the first six years of their marriage, Wilbur and Evelyn lived in the Goshen area. They then moved to the Kokomo, Indiana, area. Wilbur was very musically inclined. He spent seven years in Kokomo singing in a gospel quartet, and also directed a Youth for Christ Choir in addition to leading church music. After 12 years, they moved back to the Middlebury area.
Wilbur worked most of his life in the RV sales field setting up dealers in the USA and Europe. During this time they were able to travel to many European countries. Upon retirement, he and Evelyn spent 16 years in McAllen, Texas, during the winter months and were very active at their park. They enjoyed ringing bells for the Salvation Army representing their park in McAllen. Wilbur was a member at Clinton Frame Church.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, Jan. 6, at Clinton Frame Church, 63846 C.R. 35, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastor Terry Diener. Burial will be in Clinton Frame Cemetery, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Megan Marie Yoder Foundation for Sustainability or Clinton Frame Church.
