Edna Wright

HAMPTONVILLE — Mrs. Edna Dobbins Wright, 78, formerly of Hamptonville, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Caldwell County Hospice Home in Lenoir. She was born Sept. 16, 1935, in Yadkin County to the late Elmer and Nellie Myers Dobbins. Mrs. Wright was retired from Candle Corporation of America and worked for several years with Lucia, Inc. She was a faithful member of Swan Creek Baptist Church, where she served the church faithfully working in the nursery for over 30 years. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Guy D. Wright; and her sister, Irene Dobbins Wagoner. Surviving are her daughter, Renee Wright Davis and husband, James of Lenoir; her son, Ray Wright of Charlotte; her two grandchildren, Carson and Tori Davis; a niece, Mae Barker and husband, Dannie; and other extended family members. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Swan Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Bishop. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
