Geraldine Maxwell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Central Carolina Cremations on Jan. 24, 2026.
Geraldine Marie Maxwell, 80, of Hamptonville, passed away on January 20, 2026 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born September 21, 1945 in Florida to the late Otho and Doris May.

Geraldine loved her family dearly and cherished the moments spent with each of them. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an animal lover and absolutely loved spoiling her dogs, Dolly and Tinkerbell, every chance she had. In her spare time you would find her reading her Bible, watching cooking shows or HGTV, watering her flowers, or sitting on the front porch basking in the sun during the summer.

She is survived by her children: Bill (Pat) Maxwell of Morven, NC, Beverly (George) Smith of Morven, NC, Dale (Manuela) Maxwell of Germany, DeAnna Elkins of Jonesville, NC, James (Brandy) Hatfield of Hamptonville, NC; Grandchildren: Lil Bill (Hope) Maxwell, Joanna (Charlot) Nacius, Carl (Melinda) Phlegar, Sonya Preston, Dylan Carter, Kenneth Carter, Allen (Faith) Smith, Dylan Maxwell, Tiffany (Hunter) Monette, Austin Elkins, Kati (Xane) Elkins, Alyssa Elkins, Raelynn Hatfield, Emilee Bartlett, and Brett Bartlett; 14 Great-Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family plans to have a Celebration of Life at a later date. In the lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Yadkin County Animal Shelter in Yadkinville, North Carolina to help the animals of the community.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks and gratitude to the Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital ER and ICU teams, Pruitt Health Nursing Facility, the Elkin Rescue squad, and the EMS crew for all of your help and care.
