FRANKFORT, Ill. — Richard "Dicky" S. Shew, 72, of Frankfort, passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. Richard is survived by his loving family, wife, Beverly Shew (VanVuren); children, Michael (Michele) Shew, Michelle Shew, Jeffery Deichen, Jodi (Michael) Gibson; sisters, Wilma Norman, Patricia (Daryl) Tilley; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Geneva (Harley Johnson) Freeman Shew Johnson; sister, Shelby Shew-Bartlett-Evans; brothers-in-law, Cornelius Norman, Andrew Bartlett and Mack Evans. Richard retired from Ryan Incorporated Central in Janesville, Wisconsin, after more than 40 years of service. He was a superintendent and proud member of Local #150 Operating Engineers. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423, on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, from 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral service is Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Introduced himself as Moby Dick to me, when I first met him almost 20 years ago. That was on one of my first jobs in the beginning of my career as an operating engineer. I learned a lot from that man he was a great mentor. He definitely left a great impression on me as well as many other people. He will surely be missed.
