Words cannot express the depth of loss at the passing of our Nana, Doris W. Jones. The loss will be felt for a lifetime until we meet again. Under the loving care of her son Dennis Jones, Nana overcame health issues time and time again until she peacefully passed away April 20, 2016 surrounded by her family.
Nana was born on December 28, 1921 to Orville Dean Kendall and Olive Ruth Buchanan-Kendall. She lived in Elko, Nevada most her life working as a beautician. She owned "Doris' Beauty Salon," and worked many years for Burns Funeral Home, and Ruby Manor Nursing Home. Retiring at 88, she moved to Murray, UT to spend valuable time with her children and their families.
Nana is survived by daughter Carole Dorsey (Robert), sons Donald Jones (Kristy), Dennis Jones, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Family was everything to Nana! She never complained, loved to laugh, tell jokes, and share family stories. Memories of Nana: Never-ending positive attitude, self-sufficient, selfless, hospitable, humble, loyal, hard-working, beautician, gorgeous hair, loving spirit, gracious character, sense of humor, always something interesting to share, incredible story teller, amazing memory, undying love for family, her favorite teddy bears (daddy, momma and baby bear atop their royal bench), sticky buns, potato chips and Frito Pie.
As we ushered her into the eternal, we know she will live on in each of our hearts. She was an amazing role model and the best mother and grandma EVER! What an unbelievable guardian angel we now have in her. We love you forever and always Doris Jones, Mom, Nana, Grandma, and Friend.
In lieu of flowers, please donate on her behalf to any no-kill animal shelter. Graveside services will be at Burns Memorial Garden in Elko, Nevada, April 30 at 10:00 a.m.
