Michael E. Page
January 6, 1946 – January 6, 2022
Former Fruita, Colorado resident Michael Eugene Page passed away on January 6, 2022, after a brief illness. Mike was born on January 6, 1946, in Riverside, California, the son of Marion C. Page and Maida Alene (Roach) Page.
Mike attended Fruita High School where he was all state in wrestling. Following graduation, he joined the National Guard and became an auto mechanic, eventually becoming a master technician, auto body specialist, frame and suspension specialist, and I-Car certified technician. On March 18, 1967, he married Gail Pauline Wilson in Fruita and they had two children, Michelle and Brian Keith Page. They relocated several times, first to Salt Lake City, where Mike continued working as a mechanic, and then to Casper, Wyoming, where he worked for Schlumberger. While in Casper, Mike became an agent and manager for Farmers Insurance, a career he continued for many years. He and Gail divorced in 1981, after which Mike was transferred by Farmers Insurance to Grand Island, Nebraska, and Vail, Colorado. His final move was to Nevada, where he worked for Eureka County and eventually became a county commissioner there. In retirement he enjoyed a variety of hobby activities. Using his mechanical skills, he continued to take pleasure in rebuilding cars. He loved the mountains, the outdoors, and prospecting with his friends and his grandson, Jasper. Mike's daughter, Michelle, describes her dad as a man of his word who was kind, happy, witty, and inventive.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Michelle Page (Brent) Alm, grandson Jasper Alm, sister Nadine (Boyd) Davis, nephews Neil and Dale (Kathy) Fedelleck, and the mother of his children Gail (Roger) Morris. He was preceded in death by his son Brian and his parents. A headstone for Mike will be near theirs at Memorial Gardens in Grand Junction, Colorado. A celebration of Mike's life will be held this summer. For more information email [email protected].
