Elayne Bernat

02/08/1917 - 11/27/2008.Elayne Plous Bernat, age 91, died November 27, 2008 with her husband at her side. She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin she received a degree in nutrition from the University of Wisconsin. She interned at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Mrs. Bernat was a partner in Budget-Rent-A-Car of El Paso and New Mexico. She had a deep and continuing interest in nature and wildlife, with a special affinity for the animals and scenery of Alaska. She and her husband visited Alaska many times, one of which was for their 75th birthdays with their entire family. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Julian; her children Juli, Marc (Pam) and Andrew (Valerie); her grandchildren Robin (Derek), Bree (Ed), Joshua (Anjani), Seth (Shaila), Drew (Jenn), Lindsey (Evan) and Jill, and her three great-grandchildren Leo, Jatin and Neela, and her step-grandchild, Davey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alaska Wildlife Alliance, P.O. Box 202022, Anchorage, AK 99520, UTEP or Temple Mt. Sinai. The family would especially like to thank Bubi's caregivers: Reyna Escobedo, Connie Ronyak, Christy Bailey, and Irma Vallejo. Graveside Service will be held Sunday, November 30, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Temple Mt. Sinai Cemetery with Rabbi Larry Bach officiating. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West.
