Eligio Grijalva Obituary


Eligio (Lico) Grijalva, lifelong farmer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away Monday, April 14, 2008 at the age of 86. He was born in El Paso to Eligio Sr. and Guadalupe on December 20, 1921. He inherited his farming skills from his father. He raised eleven children on his farms in the Socorro and Clint area. He was a lifelong parishioner of Mt. Carmel Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and Adoracion Nocturna. He was awarded the Outstanding El Paso Conservationist of the year. He served on the Socorro School Board for many years. Throughout his life, he sponsored several local baseball teams. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Magdalena. Children-Martha, Cristina, Rudy, Lupita, Lily, Gracie, Ruben, +Eddie, Dikki, Ronnie. Brothers-Ysidro, Pedro, Johnny. Sons-in-law, Joe, Rudy, +Louie, George, Eddie, Frank, Gilbert. Grandchildren 26. Great-grandchildren 22. Visitation will be Friday, April 18, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Pallbearers, Ruben Grijalva, Dikki Grijalva, Orlando Cedillo, Johnny Grijalva, Pete Grijalva, John Barragan. Honorary Pallbearers, Rudy Grijalva, Joey, James, and Jeremy Barragan, Adrian Cedillo, Patrick Carrillo, John Paul Duran, Chris, Timothy, Marc, and Alex Grijalva, Eddie Parada, Zechari Schuller, Noel Pinon, Interment to follow at Mt.
