Jesus Vazquez Obituary
JESUS ROBERTO VAZQUEZ - IBARRA, M.D. born in Guaymas Sonora, Mexico on June 7, 1939 has now gone to be with the Lord on December 6, 2008. Dr. Vazquez was a Cardiologist in El Paso since 1972. His death was preceded by his father: Jesus Vazquez Meza. He is survived by his mother: Rosario Ibarra Vazquez; his wife of over 45 years: Teresa Vazquez; brothers: Ricardo and Oliver Vazquez; five sons: Robert, Ruy, Matthew, Jorge and Alex Vazquez; four grandchildren: Juliana, Jared, Jazmine, and Gabriel Vazquez. Dr. Jesus Roberto Vazquez at a young age followed his calling as a physician which he accomplished in 1963 in Mexico City. He completed his medical residency in Cardiology and Internal Medicine in 1971 at St. Josephs Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. While in El Paso, he touched the souls of not only his family and friends but also his patients. Throughout his life he aspired to not only be the best husband, father and grandfather as a provider and mentor, but also extended this same generosity and wisdom to all of his friends and patients. On August 2008, Del Sol Medical Center dedicated the "Heart Recovery Unit" in his honor. He will be remembered by his family, friends and patients as a generous, caring and wise individual. His charisma, sense of humor and his ability to teach will be missed by all who knew him. Dr. Vazquez dedicated his life, most of all, to helping his patients. Most importantly, he truly loved his lifes' calling as a Cardiologist. The Vazquez family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the dedicated nurses, physicians and employees at Del Sol Medical Center for all of their care and help that they offered Dr. Vazquez not only while as a physician but ultimately as a patient. The Vazquez family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Martin Funeral Home East with recitation of the Rosary to begin at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services for Dr. Vazquez will be celebrated on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Patrick's Cathedral, 1118 N. Mesa St. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. We have lost a truly gentle, generous, loving, loyal husband, father and friend, and a highly skilled physician. We will miss his funny stories, his larger-than-life presence, and his beautiful countenance. We are all better people for having rubbed shoulders with JR Vazquez.

In the short time I knew Dr. vazquez, I was very impressed by him. As my daughter's father-in-law we had the opportunity to visit with him and discuss several topics of interests in our different professions. "Que interesante, verdad?" was an expression he constantly used. I will always remember those words. May you rest in peace.

We are very saddened to learn of the passing of dear Doctor JR Vazquez.
May his loved ones find solace in their memories of his beautiful smile and laughter and the warmth his presence brought to any room he stepped into.
Dr. Vazquez was my father Louis Denis' cardiologist for over 20 years. He was also my mother Luz Denis' cardiologist.
Thank you, Dr. Vazquez, for providing wonderful and attentive care to my parents, always with respect, dignity and the utmost professionalism.

JR was a friend and Gentleman to all who new him. A very kind and most special Doctor. I will miss him along with his many friends and patients.

Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear about your loss. Dr. Vazquez touched so many lives in different ways, I myself had the pleasure of meeting him at Del Sol. He never had a negative word to say, I would always see him with a great big smile on his face and always a kind word for everyone. I will always be greatful for all his encouragement, I know that I am a better person because of him. He will be greatly missed.
