John, you left us too soon, but memories are still alive. You were a great friend and a very smart Detective. Hope you are assisting the lord on some investigations. RIP

John, I still remember your hearty happy loud laugh and your smoking. You were a great person, friend and co-worker, at the EPPD and MGM. RIP my friend.

Mr. Buttner,
Sir, as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice-first for our Country when you served in the USMC during the Vietnam War and secondly for the citizens of El Paso when you served with the EPPD. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. My sister and I knew John and his beautiful family when we were small children and neighbors in Cd. Juarez. We had such fun and will always have wonderful memories of our childhood playing with John. He is with God now. Rest in peace.

I will always remember John's loud laugh. After John retired from the PD, we also worked for Mediacopy. John was a great writer and a also good with the computers. A great friend, family man and co-worker has left us.
It was fun when we started in Juarez, Mexico with Terry. You are now with the lord.

I am so very sorry for your sadness. I know John is in heaven now and you will all be together again one day. I had the honor of working with John as a detective in forgery. I always thought he was just about the smartest guy in the world and really looked up to him.
