My Aunt Martha would always drive me to school when I needed a ride. She showed so much pride in being a teacher. She was a major reason why I became a teacher, too. She was also a great Godmother!
Missing you Aunt Martha,
With Love,

Mrs Marusich was the kindest and most loving teacher I ever had.I was her student in the third grade at Whitaker elementary. She was my inspiration in becoming an educator. Because of the e emotional support she bestowed upon me, I decided to become a school counselor as well. I am so deeply saddened to learn of her passing. I am glad that as an adult I was able to tell her just how important she was to me and how she inspired me to become more than I thought I could be. I really have no words. But I will include the two photos I have with her.

Mrs. Marusich and her husband were always so kind and welcoming to me in their beautiful home high up on the mountain overlooking El Paso. I especially loved sitting with Sam’s family at the dining table. I remember telling Sam that I was coming down with a painful sore throat. I didn’t want to miss Sam’s football game and was upset. Mr. and Mrs. Marusich took the time to make a delicious warm drink for me and handed us a thermos saying that if I just sipped it during the game I would feel better. I can still remember that it tasted like lemon juice with honey. I was able to not miss seeing the awesome number 10 quarterback.
Sam’s Mom combined all of the elements of the “gold standard”. Anyone who knew her is a better person for it.
I reside in Austin but my heart is still up on that El Paso mountain.
With my deepest sympathy,
