May He rest in Peace. Mr. Hernandez was my 6 grade teacher in 1974 at YGS, one of the BEST teachers, I truly treasure those years. I'm sure everyone in heaven is laughing and having a great time with his jokes. God bless the Hernandez family

Rene and I taught for several years at Ysleta Elementary School. We were both sixth grade teachers. I have many fond memories of Rene. He will be missed by the educational community.

Connie and family, our deepest and most profound condolences to each and everyone of you. Fina Hernandez, my wife, introduced me to primo Rene when Rene was still quite young. He had a great sense of humor plus a great human being. We cherish the wonderful memories when you visited us in Portland, Oregon about 10 years ago. Rene was great dad, protector,provider, friend who touched many people including ours.

I have known Rene since childhood. He was also a fabulous football player while in Ysleta High School, he was funny , kind & I am pleased to have known him. Rest in peace, gone too soon.

Our deepest condolences to Connie and family. Rene was a giant teddy bear with a smile on his face.His passion for classic cars and trucks but more than ever his passion for teaching. He loved to sing to music on the radio. I know because I've heard him when I was at my Uncle Ben & Aunt Norma's house visiting. Rene never got a chance to see the last game of the Cowboys play however is in the golden gates of heaven with my Mom and Dad looking down and keeping an eye on all us. Our prayers are with you all. Mr. Hernandez was a great man…I was fortunate enough to have spent some good times with him and his family…whether it was in front of a grill cooking carne asada, watching the Cowboys games, or with him, Mrs. Hernandez, and Jenna on the beach in Mexico having a cold one it was always a good time and great stories…Thank you so much for that…A true Veterano of Ysleta TX! He will be missed greatly…I’ll be having a Miller Highlife in his memory…

Mr. Hernandez was my 3rd grade teacher at YES. I am now 35 and over the years I would always go back to visit with him. He was always smiling. He was a great teacher and later a friend. He will be missed.
