Not sure what to say?

In 1989 we asked Steve to create a picture of my grandparents home in Kansas. It's a farmhouse, built circa1912-16. Steve had a grainy black and white photo taken after a blizzard as a guide. With imagination, insight and my oral history, he created a living painting of that home as it was in my childhood. The painting has its place on a prominent wall in our home. Steve's memory is alive and well in our home. Bob and Nancy Craig

I just found out he passed, I'm going to miss him. He was my art instructor in High school and we were good friends after that.. I learned to carve thanks to him, he encouraged me to go to college, he believed in me. Thank you Steve!! Love always your friend Jesus Mata

I'm a photographer. Steve was an artist. Once he offered to teach me to draw. I said that was hopeless. He said it was not. I won...and I lost. Steve was a fine and generous man. I very much enjoyed the time I spent at his home. I have at least twenty of his prints hanging in my house and office, and I think of him each time I see one of them. Dudley Harris San Antonio

He was not only a great artist, but a wonderful loving human being, and a great step-dad to 3 kids who were more than a handful to anyone! I have many fond memories from living at the house on Robinson. He was a dad, a friend, a mentor, an inspiration and so much more. There are no words to aptly say.

You made your mark, and will leave many with a lot of good memories and fine artwork. I'll miss you Steve.

I cherish the works of art Steve produced that I proudly display in my home in Glendale Arizona. I have wonderful memories of long ago camping out in the Gila wilderness with friends, including Steve and of course the great parties at his studio in El Paso.

Words cannot express my feelings of loss. I've known Steve since I was 12. I will always cherish his role in my life; the inspiration he invoked, through his earnest friendship, generosity, his art, his sense of wit, his grasp on life, his gift to tell a great story and his uncanny ability to thread a truth, hone it and deliver it back to us... with undeniable charm. The world is a better place because of the foot print he has left in it. God bless his soul...(I know he's organizing another soup club, up there in heaven...)

Super Steve. A good friend, a great artist... I will miss you terribly. I feel bad I never brought you some BEN'S TACOS. You, James Drake, Luis Jimenez,Albert Harris, Sandy Scott, and John Hogan have been the most talented artists who have graced El Paso. Rest well, My friend.

I am privileged to have known Steve, and enjoyed one of his famous parties. I am the richer for the piece of art he did for me for Christmas 2 years ago that beautifully expresses the Madrigal soul he shared through his art where his memory will live on.
