Bernard Laune Obituary

Bernard H. Laune, 79, New Haven, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the New Haven Care Center, New Haven.

Bernard was born in Washington, August 13, 1943, the son of the late Henry C. Laune and Lydia C., nee Meyer.

He was the husband of Kathleen (Wildhaber) Laune. They were united in marriage June 17, 1972 at St. Joseph's Neier Church near Beaufort.

Bernard was an active member of the New Haven Community including leading in many capacities at Assumption Catholic Church, the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. Bernard served on the Soil and Water Commission and the Franklin County Special Roads District. Bernard served in the United States Army Reserves.

Bernard was especially known for his abilities on a microphone as he called Bingo at Assumption and the Legion, tractor pulls at the New Haven Youth Fair and always seemed to be called upon to get people's attention for an announcement or to lead a prayer.

Bernard was a fun-loving person who enjoyed the simple things in life. He cared about the beauty of God's creation. He loved America and truly believed in providing opportunities for those who worked hard. He prided himself on being honest and acting with the utmost integrity.

Bernard was a plant manager and drove a bulk oil route for MFA Oil for 32 years. He was also an auctioneer and owner of Laune Auction Service for 40 years. He drove a school bus for R-II for 34 years.

Bernard is survived by his wife, Kathy, New Haven; three daughters, Julie Yakes and husband David, St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Marilyn Gosche, Jackson; Angie Reincke and husband David, Pacific; one son, Jeff and wife Crystal Laune, New Haven; a sister, Marian Kelley New Haven; a brother-in-law, Ronald "Stub" McDonald , New Haven; a sister-in-law, Dianne Wildhaber, Beaufort; a sister-in-law, Jeannette Siess and husband Jim, Union; eleven grandchildren, Sophie, Andrew and Ethan Yakes, Joseph and Mina Gosche, Matt, Audrey and Steven Reincke, Hailee, Hazel and Hank Laune; many nieces & nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Corine McDonald; his brother Connie Laune; his brothers-in-law, Warren Shockley, Bob Wildhaber, Tim Kelly; his sister-in-law, Betty Laune; a nephew, Conrad Laune; grandparents; many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 14 from 4-8 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.

A funeral Mass will be held Monday, May 15 at 10 a.m. at Assumption Church, New Haven, with the Rev. Father John Deken officiating.

Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery, New Haven. Memorials may be given to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital or Assumption Cemetery.
