Carol Drewel Obituary

Carol Sue Drewel, nee Courtaway, 74, Union, departed this life Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, in Boerne, Texas.

Carol, daughter of Joseph Courtaway and wife Luly, nee Courtoise, was born in Richwoods on Nov. 23, 1949. She married the love of her life, Marvin L. Drewel, on May 8, 1971, and one son came to bless this union.

Carol was a Christian, believing in the Lord as her Savior. She attended St. Clair High School. During her working career, she was employed by various companies including, Hazel International Shoe, Missouri Knife, and eventually retired from the St. Clair School District. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, taking daily trips to Union Walmart, making people laugh, and serving her church with friends. She loved to attend bluegrass and Christian music festivals, spending time in Branson and other music destinations. What meant the most to her was the time she spent with her family. The love they shared and the many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all.

A kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, half-sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt, cousin, and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Carol is survived by one son, Michael Drewel Sr. and wife Marcie, Boerne, Texas; two grandchildren, Michael Drewel Jr. and wife Christi, Dallas, Texas, Mikaela Drewel, Logan, Utah; siblings, Arthur (Art) Courtaway and wife Sharon, Potosi, Betty Pruitt (Courtaway) and husband John, St. Clair; half-brothers; half-sisters; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews; cousins; and many other relatives and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Luly Courtaway; her sibling, Joseph (Joe) Courtaway; half-brother and sisters.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 4, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with Pastor Rob Stacy officiating.

Interment was at Liberty Cemetery, Belle.

The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
