Debra Muench Obituary

- 1955 - 2021 -

Debra Ann "Debbie" Muench, nee Hanneken, 66, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021.

Debbie was born July 14, 1955, at St. Francis Hospital in Washington, the daughter of Clarence Hanneken and wife Rose, nee Alfermann. Debbie was baptized at St. Francis Borgia Church in Washington. She and her husband owned and operated Trycon Security Systems and also formerly owned the Dog House Restaurant. She volunteered her time often at the Washington Elks Lodge and especially the veterans committee. Debbie enjoyed watching Mizzou and Cardinal games, playing Bunko with friends and going on trips to Branson, and she was an avid bowler. She loved to bake and would often make desserts for her family and others. But what she loved most was spending time with her grandchildren, whether it be taking them to Six Flags, watching her granddaughter Marisa's softball games or playing with Oliver, Violet and Hayden.

The Muench family took a huge loss when they lost Eric in 1998, but Debbie became the heart and soul of the Eric Muench Memorial Foundation. She would always put others first and often sacrificed things for herself to do for others, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Eric "Rick" Muench; two daughters, Amy Muench and fiance Brian Lick and Leslie Lammert and husband Eric; one son, Andrew Muench and wife Jessica; four grandchildren, Marisa Broeker, Oliver Lammert, Violet Lammert and Hayden Muench; three brothers, Thomas Hanneken and wife Rose, Patrick Hanneken and Steven Hanneken and wife Diane; one sister, Mary Ann Fink and husband John; four sisters-in-law, Marybeth Hanneken, Mary Jo Sparks and husband Tom, Jacqueline Krafft and Christy Ratliff; her best friend, Sheila Marquart and family Phil and Tabi; her goddaughter, Jennifer Fink; and many other relatives and friends.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Rose Hanneken; one son, Eric Muench; one brother, William Hanneken; two brothers-in-law, James Krafft and William Ratliff; and mother- and father-in-law, Dr. L.O. Muench and wife Virginia.

A funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. at Oltmann Funeral Home in Washington, with Pastor Gary Schulte officiating.

Burial followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Eric Muench Memorial Foundation.
