James Kormeier Obituary
Jim was born on Nov. 18, 1933, in Port Hudson, the son of Alfred Kormeier and wife Mildred, nee Althage. He was united in marriage to Barbara "Babs" Stumpe Sept. 6, 1958, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Washington. Jim loved his family above all else, and enjoyed sharing the simple joys of life with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a dairy farmer at heart, but also worked at Ed's Engineering and Drilling for many years, and retired from Midwest.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara "Babs" Kormeier, New Haven; two sons, Jeff Kormeier and wife Laurie, and Barry Kormeier and wife Angie, all of New Haven; four sisters, Irma Pelster, Kathy Bertrand and husband Steve, all of Washington, Elsie Nice, Overland Park, Kan., and Janette Bauche and husband Warren, New Haven; four grandchildren, Kelly Stone and husband Nick, Villa Ridge, Kyle Kormeier and wife Chelsie, St. Joseph, Trista Kormeier, and Trent Kormeier, both of New Haven; four great-grandchildren, Ava, Savannah, Naomi and Lucy; one brother-in-law, Donald Stumpe and wife Dorothy, Overland Park, Kan.; other relatives, and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mildred Kormeier.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
A funeral service was held Thursday, Aug. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Leslie.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Memorial donations are appreciated to Ebenezer Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The Kormeier family was served by Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
